Apple ends 2013 with 41.8% US smartphone share, Samsung hits 26.1%; Android back to losing share
comScore’s latest results are in and it’s mostly a continuation of what we’ve been seeing:
- Apple and Samsung gained share. Everyone else lost or was flat
- iOS gained 1.2 percentage points of share, Android dropped (and has been dropping in the US for some time)
- Blackberry, Windows Phone and Symbian continue to bleed share and are not showing any signs of turning around.
- Motorola is continuing to decline, despite having the Moto X (in our opinion, the most interesting/exciting Android phone right now)
Remember this is all the US market only – the global story is far from similar. Also keep in mind that Android in the US is hugely dependent on Samsung and the S4 is getting a little long in the tooth. In addition, this is the 3 months that Apple is riding it’s brand new crop of iPhones, so it’s always been their most solid quarter.
