Matt Drance on the lawsuit from Rockstar (a shell company owned by a consortium including Microsoft and Apple that won the Nortell patents bid) that attacks Google’s primary source of revenue: search based advertising. It’s a direct attack bit just on android, but in Google itself.
While the gamesmanship of the whole thing is entertaining, this is where patent wars are really harming us all. Would the internet be better off without Google search? Would anyone rather pay for Google search than get it free with advertising. No matter which company you root for in this, it’s bad all the way around.
