Apple Will Hold Fall iPad Event on October 22
As Gruber said (who also deserves a hat tip for the link), the date was almost easy to guess, but the real scoop here is the iPad MIni getting the retina screen AND the A7. If those turn out to be accurate in a few weeks, that’s a big deal. Most pundits, us included, would have said they’d love to see the retina on the mini, but are scared to even hope because of the technical challenges involved. Perhaps the A7 is the key to that. A better GPU on chip and a LOT more processing power might make a mini without huge trade offs (eg, poor battery life, larger or heavier case, heat problems or all of the above) possible. It would be an aggressive move in the tablet space, and would continue to push Apple’s dominance to iPod style levels.
