Chrome apps could start coming to Android and iOS as early as next month
Google continues to execute on its horizontal services play. Many in the tech press love to put Android vs iOS, but android was Google’s defense against being locked out of mobile platforms. Having largely succeeded at that defense, it makes complete sense to continue their efforts at making the platforms themselves irrelevant (Android included). The real question is whether that can work in a space as fast moving as mobile, but perhaps that fast pace will move fast enough to make the gap between native apps and chrome apps shrink as well. We’re not there yet, for sure, but Google would love to move the competition to where they have a strong home field advantage.
