Horace Deidu checks in on a phenomena he observed a while back. Any mobile phone vendor that has reported a loss in even just one quarter has never made it back to profitability. Of the 18 vendors this has been true of, 15 were acquired or merged and the remaining 3 are circling the drain (HTC, Blackberry and LG). Nokia, of course, is the latest example to validate the hypothesis (and perhaps the most notable as 6 years ago they were an untouchable giant in the phone market).
