This was posted a while back by Ben Evans, but as we kick off 2014, it’s a great piece to really wrap your head around. It’s not just that smartphones are selling exponentially quickly, but rather that the fundamental nature of the internet is changing. The scale is overwhelming – we’ll soon have TWICE as many smartphones on the internet as there are PCs. But it’s also that these devices are inherently personal. They are customized by each of us, carried nearly everywhere, and used far more frequently. As Ben says, it’s not clear even amongst those of us who watch this so closely that we really have internalized what a huge change is currently underway.
