Ben Evans takes a look at Facebook’s advertising data to find two trends about the iPhone 5c and 5s: the 5s is selling much better (which is expected and mostly known) and the 5c skews higher amongst women.
The important question on the 5s outselling the 5c is more about the mix compared to years past: is the 5c selling a lot more than the 4S did in the past year? Or even more to the point is it selling better than the iPhone 5 would have if it had taken over the $100 w/ contract slot? Our hunch is that it is and that this can be significant for Apple. One of the long term plays might very well have been for next year, when the 5c will be the free with contract phone and can be more easily produced in large numbers than the 5 would have been.
